Ron White is Funny as Hell

October 22, 2013 // Posted in Internet, Living, Movies, Shopping, TV (Tags: , ) |  Comments Off on Ron White is Funny as Hell

Usually I can not name very many comedians because I just don’t really do the comedy club scene and don’t watch that many movies. So how am I supposed to know who is out there being funny or not?

Well, my girl gave me a couple of DVDs for my birthday of this guy named Ron White. He is an old drunk Texan who is funny as hell. I mean, this old boy makes you fucking laugh your ass off! He rags on his rich wife, his dogs and even people who are fans. But mostly I like the way he talks about his brushes with the Law.

There’s a classic Ron White comedy bit where he gets arrested and they are doing the booking process and they ask him if he has any aliases or other names that people call him. Well, Ron decides to be a smart ass and says, “They call me Tater Salad.” If you ever have a chance to hear that DVD or that clip on Youtube – do it. Funny as hell!

Movie Theaters in Texas

Years ago I worked with a real estate broker who had a contract with a large national chain of movie theaters. She would always be flying all over the damned country to scout new locations for the ever growing theater chain. The last trip that she took while I was at the company was to the Rio Grande Valley. So this gave me an opportunity to learn a little about the most southern cities in Texas, but just enough to be dangerous.

The area just north of the border with Mexico known as the Rio Grande Valley includes the cities of Edinburg, McAllen, Weslaco and Harlingen. If you include the cities just south of the border in Mexico, this area has a substantial population of over 2 million people. Harlingen is the easternmost city of the four, at the intersection of Highway 77 and Highway 83. This appears to be the retail hub of the valley, with retail sales per capita above $8,000. This is a very healthy number and made the area very attractive to the movie theater executives.

There is so much shit going on when real estate is involved, that so many people don’t even realize is going on, that It can and does, take years and years of research and meetings before any shovel (or other heavy duty equipment) hits the ground to start the actual building on the site. I learned so much at that job. If the market hadn’t taken such a fucking dive back in the fucked up year or 2007 I just might have continued on with that type of career path, with that particular company or gone out on my own by now.. Guess we will never know.

The World’s Gone Crazy

October 10, 2012 // Posted in Future, Internet, Living, Movies, People, Thoughts (Tags: , , , , , , ) |  Comments Off on The World’s Gone Crazy

Last night I somehow ended up on a website that actually lists what the prisoners on Death Row request for the last meal before being executed. What a creepy site that was, I can’t imagine why people would want to spend their time and effort compiling information like that. And some of the links off of that site were pretty odd also, not the type of shit that I would want to spend my time reading about, that is for sure.

It just fucking amazes me what excites and interests people. I don’t mind a good horror story, but I can do without watching one at the movies. I really don’t get what the fuck people get out of this shit. Give me a good comedy or an old fashioned love story any day. The world is full of violence and total madness and to think that there are people out there capitalizing on this type of violence just drives me crazy.

And now that we can find and see just about anything we can think of on the Internet I don’t think that we have any boundaries left. And don’t even get me started on all things that are going on with the ever increasing use of Facebook. I’ll save that for another day.

Went to see Chronicle

That movie was fucking awsome. I wont kill the movie for you but I will give you a little recap. These kids go down this shaft in the ground and find something. When they come out the have these amazing powers and can do all of this stuff. Unfortunately, one of them is psycho and cannot handle the power so goes berzerk and starts killing people. The movie has lots and lots of action, which I love, and is totally amazing. I want to see it again so bad. I know that when it comes out on video, I will definitely be adding it to my collection of awesome flicks.

I am very picky about the movies I buy. There is not a single boring movie in my collection. My friends are always asking to borrow my movies, but I tell them they can watch it at my house, but it cannot leave my house. I used to loan them out, but people wouldn’t return them, so I stopped. I wouldn’t really mind if people would return them, but they cost a lot of money and quite frankly I don’t work to buy stuff for other fucking people. I buy the movies for me.

Fucking expensive

Has anyone noticed how fucking expensive going to the movies has become? I can’t believe it. It is absolutely ridiculous what they charge. Between the ticket prices and the refreshments, it is about twenty dollars a person. What the fuck is that shit? That is why I tend to wait until the movies come out on video. For twenty dollars, I can buy the movie and watch as many times as I want.
